Andrew grew up and worked on a fifth-generation family farm, where he learned early on the importance of personal responsibility and work ethic. While in college, Andrew was a member of the FarmHouse Fraternity. In 2001, Andrew graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Agriculture Economics.

He began working for Eng & Woods Attorneys at Law in 2002 while still in law school and joined the firm as an associate in May 2005. Andrew became a partner with Eng & Woods in January 2010 and is an active member of the Missouri Bar (MOBAR), the Boone County Bar Association (BCBA) and both the Missouri and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (MACDL and NACDL).

Furthermore, he fights for all of his clients accused of crimes, contesting multiple cases each month. Andrew obtained certification from the Department of Transportation to administer Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, a necessity for cross-examining arresting officers, and he is one of only two attorneys in Columbia to attain membership in the prestigious National College for DUI Defense (NCDD).

Andrew received his AV rating from Martindale Hubbell in June of 2013, becoming Columbia’s youngest AV-rated attorney. Martindale-Hubbell has rated attorneys based on anonymous peer and judiciary ratings of attorneys’ legal ability and ethical standards. According to Martindale-Hubbell, the AV rating represents the “highest possible peer review rating in legal ability & ethical standards.” Less than 10% of all attorneys achieve an “AV® Preeminent™ Attorneys” rating.

Attorneys from outside of Columbia and attorneys in Columbia who do not practice criminal law refer cases to Andrew Popplewell on a daily basis — as do his former clients. They all know that he is an aggressive lawyer who will give you an honest assessment of your case, and through a combination of knowledge and hard work, he will fight to get you the best result possible.

Andrew and his wife Lindley have two boys, Gus and Pierce. Andrew has previously served on the Board of Directors of JobPoint and is currently on the Board of Directors of Impact Support Services. Andrew and his family are members of The Crossing Church in Columbia. Andrew also serves on the Missouri Supreme Court’s Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness as well as is the staff attorney for Boone County Alternative Sentencing Court II (Mental Health Court).
